So, you are ready to paint….

How To Remove Dried Paint DripsA fresh coat of paint can really do wonders for a room. It can brighten it up, change the style, and even give it that new paint smell. But, it takes time and lot of effort to paint a room. Plus, drips, spills, and other messes are definitely going to happen. But, it is certainly worth it in the end.

Do you want to know how to remove dried paint drips?

Drips happen….but when they dry, these drips can make a wall look pretty bad. Paint drips are one blemish that is extremely common, even for the professional painters. Drips can distract from an otherwise great paint job, but they can be fixed. Flat paint disguises paint imperfections better than a glossy paint. So, consider the type of paint before you begin your project.

So, how does a drip occur? Drips can occur for all sorts of reasons while painting, but too much paint on the brush being applied to the wall is definitely the main reason. Gravity from the excess paint will cause the extra paint to run down the wall, and then it begins to dry. The dried paint is raised compared to the rest of the wall which results in the blemishes.

The best way to get rid of the paint blemish is to cut or sand the drip out. Then, the area will have to be repainted to achieve that smooth finish.

Dried Paint Removal Steps:

  1. Scrape the paint drips off the wall with a razor after the paint has dried.
  2. Sand the area with a medium sandpaper until it is smooth.
  3. Wipe away the paint dust with a cloth.
  4. Touch up the sanded area with the same paint used on the walls. Use a high quality paintbrush to blend the area as seamlessly as possible.
  5. If the new painted area does not match the rest of the wall, you will need to repaint the entire wall with a roller.
